Terms of Service

Welcome to Haiko! By using our app, you and your faithful companion agree to these terms of service. Take the time to read them while your dog naps.

1. Purpose

Haiko is a mobile app for dog walks: it lets you track your outings, record GPS routes, follow your dog's progress (gamification), and share routes and places within a community.

2. Publisher

Haiko is published by Kotchi Studio. For the publisher's full identity, address, and registration details, see our legal notice.

3. Account and Registration

Creating a Haiko account is done exclusively via Google or Apple sign-in: there is no password specific to Haiko. An account is for a single person. You agree to provide accurate information (email, name, your dog's or dogs' profile) and to maintain the security of your Google or Apple sign-in account.

4. Geolocation

Geolocation is used at your request to center Explorer, show nearby places, prepare an offline area, or provide local weather. When you explicitly start a walk, it is used in the foreground and, if you allow it, in the background for the duration of the walk. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings. For more on how this data is processed, see our privacy policy.

5. User Behavior and Content

By using Haiko, you agree to:

• Keep control of your dog during walks, use a leash and comply with local regulations (including waste cleanup).
• Not use Haiko for illegal purposes or unauthorized commercial purposes.
• Take responsibility for the content you publish (routes, places, photos, text): you warrant that you hold the rights to it and that it complies with the law and these terms.
• Not publish content that is hateful, discriminatory, harassing, threatening, sexual or pornographic, violent, promotes self-harm or animal cruelty, fraudulent, deceptive, spam, unlawful, or dangerous.
• Not publish another person's personal data, private location, or image without their permission, impersonate them, or infringe their rights.

6. License to Your Content

By publishing content on Haiko, you grant Kotchi Studio a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, display, and distribute that content as part of the service. You retain all your rights to that content. This license ends when you delete the content in question, subject to technical or backup copies kept for the time strictly necessary.

7. Moderation, Reports, and Sanctions

Publicly published content is subject to both automated and human moderation (see our privacy policy for details on the automated analysis). We may hide or remove content, issue a warning, or suspend or ban an account in the event of a breach of these terms. If you believe a moderation decision is mistaken, you can dispute it by contacting us at support@haiko.app.

8. Premium Subscription

Haiko offers an optional premium subscription, purchased through the App Store or Google Play. This subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it; cancellation is done directly in your Apple or Google account settings, not within Haiko. Prices are shown in the app. Because the purchase is processed by the App Store or Google Play, any billing or refund request is governed by their terms and must be addressed to them directly (Apple or Google).

In accordance with article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code, for digital content or a service delivered immediately, by starting your subscription you expressly request that performance begin right away and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal (14 days, applicable within the European Union) once the service has been fully provided.

As a paid digital service, the premium subscription benefits from the statutory conformity guarantee (art. L224-25-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code): in the event of a lack of conformity, you can request that it be brought into conformity free of charge. This guarantee applies independently of any commercial warranty.

9. Availability and Liability

Haiko is provided based on its current state of development, without any guarantee that the service is free of errors. We do not guarantee the perfect accuracy of GPS traces, nor the accuracy of content published by other users, nor the continuous availability of the service. Our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. Always keep an eye on your dog and your surroundings during a walk.

These limitations do not apply to rights that the law mandatorily guarantees to consumers (in particular the statutory conformity guarantee and liability for personal injury or gross negligence), which cannot be waived.

10. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from the app (see our dedicated data deletion page). We may, for our part, suspend or close an account in the event of a serious or repeated breach of these terms.

11. Governing Law and Disputes

These terms are governed by French law. If a dispute arises, write to us first at support@haiko.app — we always favour an amicable resolution. In accordance with Articles L611-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code, you may also use a consumer mediation scheme free of charge.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these terms, in particular to reflect changes to the service or to applicable regulations. You will be notified of any significant change.
